Here's a wonderful web site, borrowed from THDmilkman's blog. It almost seems like a satire, but I think they're serious, and expressing their seriousness in a really creative way.

hmmm.
I actually like that idea.
lolololol
I just want to plug this mag, because if you buy just one magazine, this is the one to buy. It cost $25 and you get only 4 issues (i'm stilling waiting on my 2nd to arrive). They aren't in a hurry to send them either, but it is ad free and the articles are just phenomenal. If you ever heard of adbusters, well these guys left that mag to start this one. Alright, enough of the shameless plug.
Most amusing. Maybe it could work? rycs Yes I am in Cali. There are hick towns here. In spite of what they tell you on TV!
There was a fight the last night of the fair between the hicks and the mexicans. Don't know who won but 6 wound up in jail. I must admit that "I'll fly away" would not be close to the top of my favorite hymns. You are right about amazing grace though.

RYC: I don't know...I'm in my twenties and already tired of everything to do with our country's corruptness, attitude, and all the rest...but its not really any better anywhere else. Ideally, with no money and no family obligations, I'd probably move to Sweden, where I know a few people, and that knowledge of international PR (stupid degrees...) could come in handy jobwise.
I'd settle for another state right now.
RYC: "Equal Opportunity Douchebag"
LMAO.....ohhhh my stomach. Dear gods, too funny.
I saw this over at THD's xanga! I want to get some of these printed to spread around on campus.
ryc: I already attend a church where they are well aware of my love of beer and swearing
Oh come on, you've got to be kidding me. But just in case, I meant heliophobic to mean fear of sunshine.
Hahaha
I'll sponsor one.
I'll eat their steak and they can eat peanut butter out of the jar.
What do you think?
RYC, sure it's lazy. But not as lazy as forgetting to Google Roy G Biv, I mean aren't you wondering about the surprise meaning? I know that whenever I come up against an unusual word or concept, I can't wait to look it up. I remember having to look up "snarky" after hearing David Letterman use that word. My "Firefox" browser has an uppercorner for googling without even having to leave the page.
i love this...
it highlights the other side of whats lacking. i mean we measure everything according to money and forget the intangible things - superficial and easy. sponsorin a rich kid reminds of how they are too missing out a great many things thats vital to learn in their limited world of knowledge.
anyway thanks for poppin over...
This is great. We could definitely benefit from this program in Plano, TX. 16 year old wearing Chanel, Prada, driving BMW's, Lexus & Hummers. They have no idea what the real world is like. It's sickening. We took Ashley to the movies on Sunday and I almost barfed all over myself while standing in like to get refreshments because of the children behind me jabbing it up about "my new chanel bag, it's like my fav" and "mom got me these great dolce sunglasses, the were like $400". I wanted to knock the shit out of them or at least tell them to shut the eff up. Get the $400 back for the shades and donate it to a shelter for the homeless or a women's & children's shelter. The little 15 year old girl is only going to lose the shades and then Mom & Dad will just have to buy more for $400. UGH! There was actually an article in the Dallas Morning News not too terribly long ago about the affluent in Plano and how ridiculous it is. I'll have to see if I can dig it up.
You have proved that this blog is well worth my $4 a month. Okay, I might pay more!
Okay, okay. I'll visit and comment more. you got my attention.
Oh how I would LOVE to see this in the West County area. This was a great post, I'm going to have to pass this one along. lol

I'll say the same thing to you that I said to Milkman:
Your post makes me scoff in disbelief. Wow... "it's just not fair"???? "Make Affluence History"??? Come on, give me a break. This is pathetic. I sincerly hope this is a joke or satire, because if it's not, you're further down the nut trail than I thought.
If this is real, all I can say is that I'm glad liberals are finally being honest about their true goals. They want to rob the rich to give to the poor, and take away everyone's incentives to succeed in order that we would all be equally miserable.
Good luck getting elected with that. I have nothing against helping poor people, but robbing those who are wealthy by government mandate is not the message of Jesus. Sorry. If it's not freely given, it's worthless to God.
Ok, here's that article. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/longterm/stories/081605dnccokids.d44cd50.html
If I continue to live in the neighborhood I do, this is where my child will go to school. I'm going to have to move!!
Hedgehogman, you appear to have missed the point. The ad is demonstrating that affluent kids suffer a poverty of the soul.
Madeline Levine wrote a book about this topic recently, "The Price of Privilege" (Harper Collins). She was on Diane Rehm's talk show to discuss her findings. The blurb reads: Today's affluent teens have many economic advantages. A psychologist specializing in adolescence explains why so many are experiencing more unhappiness and mental illness than any other group of children in America.
Is materialism is the birthright of the American child?
Dear rich kids:
Today I found that that the milk in the refrigerator was sour and there were ants in the brand X cheerios. Also, the bread was moldy.
So, I opted to eat nothing. I had the same for lunch.
My cat puked three time and we don't have a maid named Rosa or Consuela to clean it up--we have to clean it up ourselves.
I haven't cleaned it up yet which means I'll probably get my ass chewed (or kicked) by my step dad.
No one bought me a $400 pair of sunglasses today but an old lady did share her stale oatmeal cookies and Lipton ice tea with me. The ice tea had to be chipped out of the cardboard tube, but it was still drinkable.
Do you think you deserve all the shit you have, rich kids? Are you doing anything to benefit humanity at all? Or are you spending your days leering at QT Boyz and driving your BMW around wasting $3/gallon gas?
Yours truly,
Anna
just passing through. how've you been?
"Hedgehogman, you appear to have missed the point. The ad is demonstrating that affluent kids suffer a poverty of the soul."
As does every other human being on the face of the earth. That's not much of a point. It looks like another cheesy, whiny attempt at class envy to me. Get all the have-nots mad at the haves; it's a classic liberal tactic. The name "Make Affluence History" is another dead giveaway.
Anna's tirade against rich kids only solidifies my observations. "Life sucks for me, so I'm going to lash out at rich people!". Please.
You're right.
I had to buffer that list somehow.
Hey John. Just tagged you. Let me think a bit on your query in your last comment.
Tim
I'm taking a poll here. Do my other readers want Hedgehogman befouling this blog with his hateful elitest filth masquerading as Christianity? His lack of compassion for Anna and people in her situation is almost demonic. I don't like to ban people as a general rule, but sometimes you just have to call the exterminator and get rid of the vermin. Please weigh in with your thoughts. Thanks.
Excuse me? I said nothing against Anna's situation, I only commented on her approach. Lashing out at the rich is NOT the answer to poverty, nor is having the government steal their money to give to yourself. That wasn't Jesus's solution, either. PERIOD.
How about actually responding to my point instead of name-calling and threatening to ban me? You call ME hateful because of my realistic stance?? Ha! This so-called ad does nothing but stir up class envy and hatred. Is that really what you want to be a part of as a Christian?
Why don't you just be honest and admit you're trying to get all the poor people to hate the rich people, simply because they've been successful? Anna's little tirade proves my point to a "Tee". "Life sucks for me, so I'm going to lash out at rich people!" is EXACTLY what she was saying! I dare you to show me how this assesment of Anna's remarks was incorrect, much less hateful.
Sorry, but where I come from, telling someone they're whining isn't considered "hateful". Liberals can dish out foul-mouthed tirades, but they can't take even the slightest insult or truthful obeservation. Anna effs off at the President of the United States and gets told she's "so intelligent!", but I get threatened with being banned for daring to say liberals are whining and hating rich people. Please. Grow up.
John,
My thoughts? I think one can debate without slinging personal insults and spewing venom. At least I try my best when I've got into heated debates. Bottom line is it's your blog my friend. If it bothers you, rid yourself of it. If not, then it's all good.
Have you heard on the news about the storms in my area? They've called in the National Guard for help. It's been awful. Hope this finds you well. Have a blessed weekend!

CrimsonWings (A Goddess in the making!)...A continuous work in progress!
Dear Hedgehog man.
Where exactly in my letter to the rich kids did I say that I thought their money should be taken away and given to me?
I thought the point of the thing was to show them how it is on the other side, since they are clueless and don't give a shit.
If they offered me their $400 sunglasses, I'd tell them to shove them up their ass.
And fyi, Jesus said that if someone asked you for your cloak, you should give them your coat as well. Or something like that.
Now, I'm not asking for ANYTHING from ANYBODY except for a fair chance at making it on my own--which is something I and most people in my situation are not getting. If you don't believe me, come and look at MY school and what it can offer in comparison to the rich kids school up in Edina or other places where rich people's kids go to school.
I call the president a fucking idiot because he is one. He lies and lets other people DIE for his lies--and is now LYING HIS ASS OFF about Iran's involvement in the shit between Israel and Lebanon. It's the second coming of the same old shit. Acting all self-righteous and shit, when in fact the US has funded gobs and gobs of terrorists (although WE call them "freedom fighters") throughout the world and turning them loose on primarily civilian populations. I say HORSE SHIT to "Iran is backing Hezballa." Or rather, WHO CARES? since maybe they do donate to them. The point is, they are not doing ANYTHING WE HAVEN'T DONE (only 10,000 times MORE).
John, do not ban Hedgehogman.
Freedom of speech and expression (such as it is) is about the last thing we still have in this country that separates us from the OTHER imperialistic states in the world. Sorta.
So, let him go ahead and express his opinions, even if he is wrong and doesn't have a clue about what it is like to be on the poverty line.
The rich people are welcome to all the money they can EARN. What I'm saying to the fuckers is JUST don't steal what little us poor people have so you can have 5 or 6 SPARE pairs of $400 sunglasses for your toddlers.
And the kids are growing up without compassion or empathy--willing to step on somebody else's face in order to have what they don't need and can't even use.
I don't hate rich people. I hate their sense of entitlement to EVERYTHING along with their feeling that people like me don't deserve ANYTHING.
Being born with a rich daddy don't make anyone more worthy of life than someone like me, born to a daddy who spent ten years or so trying to kill me.
As I was scrolling down and reading All of the interesting comments,I was sincerely wishing that I did not have to continue to read his comments...THEN your comment popped UP and I was grateful...NO...A big fat NO..block him because he will never have a clue what is being discusssed here. That is just the way life is,,sometimes we speak Chinese and the other person ONLY speaks Russian, this is a case of that kind of scenario...This is as politely as I can put it.
Now onto what you had posted here,I almost forgot to weigh in with my opinion..I have also witnessed Soooo many situations like JoyA described in her comment...It is also rampant everywhere you turn, does not matter what part of the states you travel to. We are losing this generation of people, if it is not reigned in by the parents and society in general.
I am in such fear that we are on the verge of WWIII with all of the recent occurrences with Lebanon and Israel...My mother keeps telling me that we are so out of control in this country of ours, that the only thing that might slap us all back to reality is some very severe hardship..This country can not continue to operate under the assumptions of entitlement, it is one globe. I truly believe we will see events that will put this in perspective whether OR not it is wanted by the typical overindulged American.
Hey John;
RYC; While I wouldn't say all is unfolding as it should, I do feel better in my overall outlook on life. I think I may be actually moving forward, although I need to see a little more evidence.:)
RYP(s);
I went through your signage post and got a good laugh.Well done, and thanks. You can never go wrong with a good sense of humor.
This post on rich kids/poor kids is certainly thought-provoking, to say the least. Well, if you throw out hedgehog's usual thuggery it is,anyways.
I have no right to spout an opinion on hedgehog's dismissal/revival as I haven't been here for a few weeks but that's not going to stop me. I happen to wholeheartedly agree with Anna, in that he should be allowed to stay and voice his opinions. Anna is far more qualified than I to make observations on this post, but before I left I had noticed that for every thousand idiotic comments that hedgehog makes, he'll make one that actually has a grain of truth in it. Or at least it should be taken into account, when trying to understand the knucklehead approach of the far right. You can't promote change, if all your readers agree with you. I f you were paying for your webspace, I'd say toss him. But it's free, so why not let him waste space, until he gets to 1,001, and then see if we can find something in there?
The bottom line is you deal with important issues that affect this world on a daily basis. Were this a "feel-good" site, then I'd say "ditch the right-bitch". But it is not that kind of site.
Hope all is well at your end John. I dare to suggest that not ALL of those signs came on one trip, though? Yesno?
Peace
Scott
an interesting premise and neat links thanks...

^^ No A/C ... California has an energy crisis right now ... they are having power outages and shuting down flights to and from the airports. "Why do you ask? Are you going to advise me to "get help" like the TV commercials do? There's no help out there for poor people. It's just another American lie. The American "way of life" CAUSES depression and suicide."
I'm not sure if this is a religious precept by which you reason or some philosophical observation you may have made, but either way, statistics would say otherwise. If it was really the American way of life creating the problem, it would not be a much bigger problem in other countries like Hungary (highest suicide rate), Norway, Sweden, Denmark, etc (I guess etc implies countries in that area?). To some degree I think you're right in that, largely, the existence of a middle class seems to be at least loosely correlated with suicide, but nonetheless suicide is universal and affects people of all lifestyles. Also, suicide prevention programs and the establishment of a 9-1-1 system in certain states have strong correlations with suicide prevention, so there can, indeed, be some manner of help for those who seek it.
Anything else I have to say I'll mostly omit to avoid repetitiveness. I will say that I certainly feel the way others seem to feel about the sponsoring a rich kid and about your take on things. The haves have an outstanding number of ways to protect themselves from the knowledge of (or, rather, understanding of the situation of) the have-nots. People who think that money has no affect on the world only believe so because they are afforded the comfortable lifestyle that allows such ignorance.
“It's just another American lie. The American "way of life" CAUSES depression and suicide.”
Whatever the USA has one of the lowest suicide rates in the western world, but don’t let facts get in the way of a good line of bullshit. According to the stats, and your line of logic, the Cubans must be living a much more American lifestyle than even the Americans

OHMIGOSH.... I thought it was hilarious. Can't people enjoy a little satire and go on with life rather than starting a major conflict? Perhaps tomorrow will be a better day for all. I only get in a rant when my oxygen levels are low...which is often...LOL
This has nothing to do with being wealthy or not. It has to do with raising your kids right wether you have a million dollars or only a hundred. If you constantly give your kids anything they ever wanted then they never know what its like to want or need. They also dont learn to set goals and work tword them. Most that I have met become very self centered self absorbed adults. They think the whole world "owes them" When they eventually enter the work force they have no idea what to do or how it works. A good example I think is my husbands employer. This man is a millionaire a couple times over. His 16 yr old son is working for my husband for the summer. Hes working in a hot sweaty warehouse loading trucks all day. Obviously they dont need the money, but he is teaching his son the value of hard work and earning his own money. My husband says hes one of the best warehouse handlers hes had. If more parents would do this (and im not only saying rich ones) we would be raising a better generation of kids.
Good morning.
"Dear Hedgehog man.
Where exactly in my letter to the rich kids did I say that I thought their money should be taken away and given to me?"
You didn't, and I never said you did. I was referring to this ad that Eccentrique posted. Some have claimed that it is satire. It doesn't look like a joke to me, but even if it is, I know there are people who believe it and take such ideas seriously. It is those people that I spoke out against.
My problem with your letter to rich kids is that it is still nothing more than a rant against kids who are rich, for no reason other than that they are rich, when you take it at face value. Your last comment explains your thoughts more clearly, so perhaps I misunderstood your point.
"I hate their sense of entitlement to EVERYTHING along with their feeling that people like me don't deserve ANYTHING."
Now you're just stereotyping and generalizing about rich people. Isn't that the same thing you hate people doing about the poor?
"Being born with a rich daddy don't make anyone more worthy of life than someone like me, born to a daddy who spent ten years or so trying to kill me."
On that at least, we can agree.
Good evening, Eccentrique. Or should I say..."Good evening, Baca?" ha!ha!ha!
Luke 6:20...."Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God."
"Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied."
"Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh."
"Blessed are you when men hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil,
because of the Son of Man."
Luke 6: 24..."But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort."
"Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will go hungry."
"Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep."
"Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets."
Luke 16:13..."No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."
Peace.
Somewhere out there Sally Struthers is weeping for these little ones. Just the cost of a cup of coffee a day can help the children make soccer practice.

RYC: Sometimes I look back on what I write and I think to myself, "girl, you've got issues." So, I erase and start over, trying to work on and improve my current state of mind, mood, and self. Most days I improve on these matters. Others I just don't. For instance, I have a bumper sticker on my car that says, "Don't blame me I voted for Kerry". I've had it since 10 days after the 2004 election. (I put it on the day it came in the mail. I ordered it, along with 9 others to give to family and friends, on the day Kerry conceded the election.) So, I have this sticker on my car still and the other day my seventeen year old son asked me when I was going to remove it. I said, "Ya know, some days I think to myself that I'm being too hateful, too cynical, too bitter....then I read about something else soooo asssinine that Dumbass does and I say, bullshit I'm keeping it on there." So, see stuff like that I'm trying to improve on. Like "EternalCrimsonWings"...it's a "continous work in progress".....
please sponsor me.
Hey, thanks for taking the time to drop by my xanga. I was surprised you would with all of these comments you have. Leastways, my hat's off to you.
WOW! Quite the response to this ad. I have banned Hedgehog before but later realized it was the wrong thing to do. It is important to hear how the religious right think about our topics because we need to change their minds. These conservative fundamentalists really can't understand the "real" world so we need to explain it to them. I feel both sides, poor and rich, do not understand eachother. But the problem with these conservatives is they have Jesus teachings in bold red print and still cannot abide by them. At least some day when we stand before God, we can say we tried. Shalom.
"What is wrongly gained is wrongly lost."
THD, abiding by the teachings of Jesus has nothing to do with the government stealing from the rich, or bashing rich people because they don't do what you think they should with their money.
Sorry, but that's not part of the Gospel.
Hedgie, you must have missed the parable about the Rich Young Man.
Money actually sucks. I wish the whole world would go to the barter system.
It would be fair then--and all the farmers would be rich instead of poor.
Damn. I wish our family was rich enough for central air at least.
I'm expiring of heat.
