  • Swell New Video Game!

If you're not a member of the Liberal Media or part of the Bash America First crowd, this post is not for you.

There's a swell new video game on the market that every normal red-blooded patriotic American will soon be playing, or buying for his/her kids.  It's in the finest traditions of American history and culture, and will prove to be an excellent educational tool.  Here's a description of the game, and a way that you can try it out for free:

    Video Game
    Genocide

The recent debate over immigration and the
inevitable backlash from the brown community have made headline news throughout
the nation. Despite the broad coverage of the anti-H.R. 4437 movement by the
mainstream media, they have failed to address the real issues concerning
immigration reform. They do not dare venture into the root of the problem, for
they know that it has nothing to do with terrorism or border security. In
reality, immigration reform in America is driven by widespread
xenophobia, the colonizer’s mentality, and yes, plain old racism.

Now, with Minutemen on the border and the
President promising National Guard deployment there, the anti-Mexican sentiment
and reactionary xenophobia in this country has been manifested in a video game.
    Border
    Patrol
,” which is credited to the bigoted neo-Nazi Tom Metzger, puts you in
the role of a hunter/murderer who patrols the southern border with Mexico.
Your objective: “Keep them out…at any cost!” “Them,” by the game’s definition,
are the “wetbacks” trying to cross the border from Mexico.

As if the mere concept of a game that requires
you to shoot indigenous migrants were not insulting enough, Metzger identified
each character with a common stereotype of Mexican people.

The “Mexican nationalist” holds a Mexican flag
and totes two guns as he runs across the river. The “drug smuggler” carries a
bag of marijuana on his back. The most offensive target is the “breeder,” a
pregnant Mexican woman who lugs two children behind her. In true neo-Nazi
fashion, the author exhibits an obvious lack of respect for all women,
identifying those who give us life with the label of an animal. The game credits
you with four kills if you shoot her – one for the mother, one for each child,
and one for the unborn baby.

This “kill them all” mentality isn’t mere
fantasy – it’s Western history relived on a video screen. No mainstream video
game better illustrates the point than “Gun,” set in the American Old West.
Colton White, a hunter turned gunslinger, must kill Apache Indians in order to
“advance.” As White, you slaughter the Apache people, scalping as many as you
can with your “scalping knife.” The message of these games is clear – genocide
against indigenous people is still accepted and encouraged in the US.

Since the introduction of television in the
    US, indigenous people have been
portrayed as villains, savages, rivals of righteous white cowboys against whom
anything goes. In modern times one can see the same relationship in the struggle
between the “upright” white police officer and brown skinned gang members.
Racism against Indians has always been commonplace, but these “games” take it to
    new proportions.

The purpose of the games is threefold: as a
    recruitment tool for hate groups; they portray people of color as sub-human;
they serve to desensitize the public and potential recruits to very real crimes
against humanity, like mass deportations, hate crimes, and mass incarceration.
If the people can be numbed to this brutality and convinced that the targets are
sub-human, the next step will be one we have seen before – genocide.

Europeans colonists engaged in the wholesale
slaughter and enslavement of Indians and Africans with no remorse. 100 million
Native Americans – our ancestors – and 100 million Africans were ultimately
killed at the hands of white colonialists and slavers. European culture was
desensitized to these atrocities by the dehumanization of non-whites. This
condition is known as the colonizer’s mentality, and it is recreated, and meant
to be recreated, in the mind of everyone playing these “games.”

The neo-Nazi “National Alliance,” creators of
the video game Ethnic Cleansing, knows this all too well. Released on Resistance
Records, a low-budget white nationalist label, Ethnic Cleansing encourages you
to play as a skinhead or a noose-wielding Klan member. You patrol the streets of
a city which has been devastated by gangs of “sub-humans.” From the words of the
creators, you “run through the ghetto blasting away various blacks and spics.”

Ethnic cleansing in the US is
not an implausible course. The government is already building concentration
camps for migrants. Soon, the law will allow them to stop anybody on the streets
with brown skin to ask for proof of citizenship. We have been stripped of our
rights by the Patriot Act. The American Indian holocaust is very real; it has
endured the test of time, and it continues, both in the real world and in the
media. These “games” are nothing but video genocide.

  • I didn't check out the video game John but it sickens me to think that people would create something like this, and that sadly enough there will be people who will buy it.
Makes me want to hurl,.... literally.

I hadn't heard of this one.... not until tonight.

    ~Namaste~

  • The detention centers/ concentration camps are for war protesters, possibly for people who will protest after the October surprise that they create a phony terror act and then will use that to cancel the Nov 2006 elections. Them bastards WANT illegal immigrants to take away and compete for average person's wages to lower our standard of living, so the detention center/concentration camps are not for them. That's all a separate issue from this video game, and separate from the genocide against the Indians.

By the way, if we have to return the Southwest to Mexico as Aztlan demands, can we at least keep the Gadsen Purchase since we paid for it?

  • Are there no depths low enough that this country's administration won't take us to?   I mean, when will this country hit rock bottom?  I thought with dubya-dumbass trying to pass legislation to torture "war criminals" (or any political enemies that may "somehow" make their way into his grasps)  our country's administration had caused this nation to hit an all-time low.  But, I guess the low point is realizing that your country's administration has encouraged this type of behavior, even perpetuated it, and now the rest of us are being drug down this road to self-destruction by the likes of "rednecks", isolationists, racists and people who are nothing more than "scaredy-cats".  Bush has made the citizens of this country no better than the citizens of Iraq, Iran, or any other nation who's leaders hold it's people hostage by hatred and fear of anything and everything, "unknown".  Hence, if the current administration condones torture and "manhunts" to bring the "enemy" to "justice" then  a good portion of it's citizens will follow suit.  A country can only be as good as it's leadership.  Where is our leadership?  Peace.

  • I checked the game... and I thought... why those racist bastards hate the Hispanic community so much, where the Mexicans are the most hated?  Those rednecks racist bastards doesn't know the conditions Mexicans faced each day having the whole families of 15 or more living under one roof, surounded by cockroaches, mosquitoes and dangerous animals in some parts. Those so-called patriotic assholes doesn't know even though some American assembly factories have moved to Mexico, this country still have it's poverty areas that the actual president must take care of it inmediately. Another issue is the so-called Americans complained Mexicans are taking their jobs, but in the first place, you didn't like that job anyway! So stop the nasty ass racism and deal with it!  We all bleed red.

By the way eccentrique I agreed 100% about Chavez, I really don't know why the hatred to this president? He's not a saint either... but he just hit Bush in his small balls... and it still hurts... :P   See ya later...

  • i keep saying, video games and tv are preparing us for throwing peeps to the lions and liking it.... we are sick sons of bitches

  • Hey, 007,

    RYC:

From what I learned in high school Chemistry, the calories counted for food are actually kilocalories or Calories with a capital "C." I should be writing the abbreviation as "kcal" or "Cal," not "kCal." Good looking out.

The reasons for the "Primarily" have to do with the theme of the mix (i.e., the choice of the songs), as well as the fact that it is my debut mix.

I will alert you on your blog that I responded to your comments here.

  • one more example of humans being stupid and cruel... dern it all.

  • once again, great post. Didn't click on the game, but stuff like this just sickens me. Especially because I encounter it every day. Some of my students are quite racists. It's frustrating. There are many things I like about teaching in high school, but one of the ones I don't is that students pretty much have a notion of what they believe and feel when they get here and it's much harder to open their minds to differet manners of thought if they don't want to.

  • what an excellent post! i think this is just horrible! i didn't go to the video game though ... it will just make me ill and pissed!

    How are you?

  • I have begun to see how destructive video games are with this game and the other new game that just came out that mirrors the Left Behind series. The Left Behind game is full of violence, however, as was the case with Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ, evangelicals have adopted it because it is "educational". So when killing is done to satisfy their cause, it is OK.

I have also noticed that a large number of conservatives out here in xangaland play video games. I wonder if they ever spend any time reading, praying, and meditating. It could explain their lack of understanding a peaceful God.

  • I've had someone send me an email  link to that game.  Having seen how smoothly citizenship works when done properly, I wish others would take notice.  But, that's still no excuse for such distasteful BS.

  • I'm not sure where I stand on immigration, and I don't think video game violence is going to ruin my generation. However, that has got to be one of the most distasteful, violent, and blatantly racist titles I've heard of in a long time, or possibly ever. I just don't understand the point. Senseless violence can be fun in video games... but it's one thing to go after zombies in a fantasy world and another to go killing people in a model real world because they're not like you.

Racism and xenophobia are the two things that are going to one day tear this country apart. Oh, wait. They already have.

    History repeats itself.

  • i must confess; animation makes me dizzy :)
ryc; native koreans are warm, loving, and very accepting.
hope you can make it back there, soon. peace, always.

  • Don't post on my site unless I personally know you...

  • John, I couldn't believe Bandit's comment above. I wrote to her if that is how she feels people should be on xanga that she should not be on the net without parental supervision. I masochistically wait for her to write a hornet's sting of a comment to me accusing me of being a predator, it's so predictable.

  • Who pissed in Bandit 08's  cheerio's this morning?

  • Ditto what the Milkman said...

  • I quite agree. >.<

  • I completely agree with what EternalCrimsonWings said in the first comment.

    ryc:  deer

  • ryc; ya know, i thought the "exact" same thing when i re-read it :) peace, always.

  • ryc: why can't you talk about it right now?

  • This is disgusting and horrifying. I guess you'd have to be a "true patriot" to enjoy this kind of hatred. Thanks for the heads up on this awful thing.

  • Makes me want to puke...

    :(
