Ego or Savvy Business Plan?
Old Theologian Dan has finally lost his mind, I think. Not content with having five or six of his posts simultaneously on Featured Content, he has come up with a more grandiose plan. Here's the message I just received from him, as one of his Xanga Friends:
***I am going to beat youtube. I want to beat their "Most viewed" for the
day page. I need people to send me videos to use. If you would like to
help or have some experience in dealing with youtube, let me know.***Of course, some day we may find out that it wasn't just ego. We may read in USA Today that Dan has sold his Xanga page to Google for 7.8 billion dollars. And then we'll all say to ourselves, "Damn, why didn't _I_ think of that??!"

hahahahahaha, , , yea, , , the reggaetonrapper made himself a director on you tube, , , i glanced at the thing, , , i didnt have time to read it all, , , looked like maybe he was giving up his rights to the videos to you tube, , , like i said, , , i didnt read it, , , i could be wrong.
i have by the way started posting my platform one day at a time, , , i dunno, , , i got several posts up and one awaiting conversion to public tomorrow.
i forget, , , and not necessarily in this order, , , schools, war on terror, welfare and foodstamps, taxes, , ,
no wait, , , i only have 3 posted, , , war on terror is tomorrows post.
About a month ago I started thinking that Dan is getting paid by xanga and myspace. Maybe by comment or something. Perhaps by getting into youtube he can get some bucks out of them as well. You know at a buck a comment he could do pretty well at these things. Have a good weekend!
Tim
I laughed when I got the message myself. I think he just likes to have fun.
A little column A, a little column B? I used to read his page a lot, back when I used a different username and he didn't seem quite so...obsessed? I guess that's the right word - because when I was reading he was only doing a post every other day and there was none of this 5 posts a day thing going on.
"You need to get a little more specific with your platform, John. What exactly will people in your kingdom be required to do in return for food and shelter? How will you determine who is "worthy", and what constitutes "fraud"? Etc.
Will your kingdom have a Constitution, John? Will there be "the rule of law"? Or will it just be government by fiat?"
now you see, , , thats what i need, , , questions, , , i am basically writing here to hear myself think, , , a long drawn out post will not be read, , , therefore my posts are a simple of outlines of what and why, , , how requires more writing which i am not opposed to, but first i need a reader. im starting from scratch here, , , as you and i know, , , this post i am running for does not exist at this time.
what will be required will be that they work. the govt can supply jobs for those that really cant find work, , , i believe at this time, , , the problem is people dont want to work, , , what constitutes fraud is people who say they cant or dont have work who are lying.
who is worthy of assistance, , , is everyone on the north american continent. as long as they need it, , , people put into a priority for help would be of course elderly, single mothers, orphans of course, mentaly impaired and other obvious cases. and a lot of these will not in fact be required to work. beyond that, a case by case basis. there will be govt employees, , , that cant be helped, , , and after all military and police are also government employees.
shelter will be provided, , , food will be provided, , , but not via funds directly to individuals, , , nor will those who cant get to the food be required to travel to it. an ideal situation would be that the food is fed in the shelters, , , i say shelters, , , apts similar to retirement apts which when privately run are rather expensive. of course again, , , case by case basis. those who gain employment while living in shelters, , , i should call them my apartments, , , and being fed can be required to pay for it, , , or at least part of it to offset the costs, , , and this of course will avoid the current practice of selling food stamps for drug money or spending welfare checks on drugs, , , as there will be none.
constitution, , , kinda, , , based on our origional constitution with things temporarily deleted that would impair my power to act on issues. i want total and complete power and therefore would not even think of running for a puppet post such as president. i want a limited term, , , and will agree to bow out if i break my platform promises.
and the whole purpose would be to set in place another constitution, , , again based on our origional constitution with hopefully more safeguards against us winding up in the situation we are in today. i was thinking about a 2 year rule, , , maybe a little longer would be required, , , im game for any suggestion on that and i am game for suggestions to improve my platform, , , if a fair government can be put into place before my planned reign is completed, , , thats enough for me, , , im out of there, , , i have mentioned, , , i dont really want this job, , , but someone has to do it, , , i havent seen anyone else step up to the plate.
and things evolve,,, it wont last forever, , , hopefully another hundred or two hundred years, , , things will eventually return to the way they are today and someone else will have to step up to the plate, , , at least it will be in the history books that it has been done before.
how i would pay for all this is another topic so i wont really go there except to say first things first, , , slash billions off the current budget, , , which will be the easiest task of all.
hey, , , maybe ive just got an ego too, , ,
Dan has his xanga network, but that's all he has. It's gone to his head, the same way that Time's 1994 Man of the Year got to Newt Gingrich's head, Newt Gingrich the bastard that was porking an intern while his wife was dying of cancer and yet was leading the impeachment against Clinton.
That day I tried getting a picture, but my cellphone camera that the nurse was operating couldn't take the picture because its memory was full and my father was getting impatient, and then I forgot to try again the last day there.
I really don't know what's Dan's doing... He's definately out of his wacko mind. He was so humble and honest and now he's ego went to the roof of his cranium. So sad...
"That map at the bottom of your site is pretty interesting. Is that where your 15 loyal readers are located?
Looking forward to more of your platform, John. And I'd like to learn more about your life. Viet Nam vet? Military disability?"
actually i have a few more than 15 loyal readers, , , and many of them comment thru email, , , a goodly number of them are not xanga members, , , i prefer to go by the other little map, , , and altho i wish i had more hits, , , i try hard with my tags, , , i do get several times 15 individual hits a day,
yes i am a vietnam vet, , , no i have no military disability, and my platform is of course being posted now on hopefully a new subject every day, , , im sure ill have interuptions down the line.
I plan to do my damnedest to thwart TheMEologiansCafe. I'm certain that I have some support on this.
Ryc: Morning, my Eccentrique blog buddy
How is it Saturday already? My friday night disappeared.
I like that stone polishing bit, it rings a little true. Though on the occasion a vicious radical stumbles across my hovel of a blog and decides to try to rip me.
Your friend dan is pretty ambitious, I must say. But I don't get it: is he trying to beat the algorithm, or is he trying to beat page views?
I too am a little puzzled by the deleting of Dan.
oh, i can't staaaand dan
I like Dan,I bet he beats you tube too!
hahahahahah.....I took him on once and gave him. He was sooo polite to me. I don't bother to go there but I don't berate him anymore. I linked to you today.
"Probably the most important question, John: How will you deal with human nature in your kingdom? The vast majority of people are greedy and self-serving. They want luxuries while others don't even have necessities. They think they're better and more deserving than anyone else. The world revolves around them. Will your kingdom be one of "survival of the fittest", or will you create some sort of safeguards so that the strong can't take too much advantage of the weak?"
human nature is human nature and you shouldnt mess with mother nature, , , or human nature, , , greed will overcome in the long run, , , in another couple hundred years, , , as stated before, , , we will be back , , , or they will be back , , , to where we are today. no argument there.
and i believe this is the root of my campaign, , , greed in govt.
at that point someone else will have to step up to the plate, , , unless the sun has burnt out or something by then.
I don't know Dan, guess I don't spend enough time on xanga.
RYC: thanks for reminding me of my opinionated self.
ryc:
1. they're generally daniel quotes that i don't want to forget because they are integral to some stupid inside joke we have going on. we've so many characters and storylines between us - talking to him is like talking to an entire episode of the animaniacs. some of them are from christopher, and some from house. it all depends on my mood, i suppose.
2. because i dont dwell on my past and i'd rather not let anyone else either. i liek the minimal privacy it gives me to have people know me from today forwards, not today backwards.
3. i know it would be helpful to have specifics. but ... it's not the kind of things i can air through xanga in detail. which leads to number
4.the message link is there when you mouseover the "xanga" link up top. or i'll catch you on yahoo. we'll talk in detail then.
The only problem" i believe good business practices breeds success. the legislators have not shown any kind of success in their checks and balances. nor their decisions. nor would i, , , nor would you i dont believe. there is a lot of business, industry, manufacturing, etc, i know nothing about, , , nor do i believe any legislators do either. as a general rule, someone involved in the business has a better handle on how to run their business. one stupid example, , , smoking.
why should government decide if a restaurant, , , or bar should allow the customers of any specific establishment to smoke? i personally try to avoid restaurants who dont allow me to smoke. some of the restaurants i try to avoid may well appreciate my business, , , and may rather cater to smokers than non smokers, , , their success may depend on it, , , like i said, , , a stupid example, , , but an example of govt interference in business.
anyone in position of power will let it go to their head. that includes me or you. and a total monarch is not a real good thing, , , but as a temporary resting place for people to get their feet on the ground would be good..
"we'd end up getting assassinated pretty quick." a pretty good test of who has the nerve to rule. there are times someone in power has gone against all opinion and risked everything on one decision. not too many times has it come out to be opinion was right. a leader who lives in fear, , , (go to an undisclosed location to monitor in times of crisis), , , is not a leader. there is a chain of command and should always be someone to take over.
i have an example from mexico, , , eyewitnessed by myself, , , not hearsay. this story is true, , , it is factual.
i went to see obrador talk, , , twice, , , once in nuevo laredo, , , once in victoria tamaulipas. i went to victoria to see him again because he impressed me so much the first time. . . not by what he said, , , his actions.
in nuevo laredo, , , considered by many as the most violent city in mexico, , , i was in a crowd of thousands, , , waiting, , , there was a stage, , , there was a palace behind the stage where i expected him to appear from. when it was announced he was here i kept looking at the stage expecting him to appear. i could hear people screaming and cheering, , , finally i turned around, , , he was pushing his way through the crowd shaking peoples hands, , , reminissant of daniel colloso, , , (sp) in tijuana several years ago. if nothing else, , , that man had nerve. a man with nerve impresses me. and it is the quickest way to get my vote.
calderon on the other hand when in nuevo laredo, , , gave his speech in an undisclosed location, , , easy to find, , , it was the sealed in compound surrounded by federales and state police not letting anyone in except the invited members of the pan party.
obradors actions since have been kind of an embaressment, , , but still, , , i think the wrong man is taking office, , , i also think obrador won, , , but thats a story told over and over isnt it, , ,
besides that, , , ive never been against going out in a hail of bullets, , , relatively quick and painless id think.
ryc: no, i didn't write the joke. i was too upset about mark to concentrate. and yeah---i also won the most-likely-to-make-us-laugh award.
Fame can get into folks head I guess. I want to read Tuesdays with Morrie! How is it? I read his other book, 5 People You Meet in Heaven -- it was really good.
lol at this post and at dan
Ditto what QueenBee said!

ryc: my emotional nature is rational, by virtue of how i live my life. if i don't feel its right, it can't be. that's the bottom line.
ryc: ha, the d-man.
it's funny how, even when i don't mention daniel for days on end, someone inevitable brings things around to be about daniel. i'm intrigued by this.
Were you a firefighter? Happy belated Fire Fighters Day.
