  • a man, indeed, of very few words. I must agree with you here John, having adopted 3 myself.
Oh and a happy new year to you too!

  • so, is anyone going to say they are against it?  what a ridiculous question....

  • hahaa,,, adoption is fine,,, and ive got a couple that way,,, it can be a long drawed out affair,, and rather expensive,, i guess you could look at it as some sort of kid for sale busiiness.  dont think there is a return option,,,, hahahah  ive never had one i wanted to return,,, just a thought.

due to complicated laws,,, sometimes the bull just has to be taken by the  horns.  you know what i mean,,, and,,, the kid will not think less of you for it.

  • What is your opinion on adoption?

i think it is wrong, unless there is something pyhsically wrong with the mother that'll make the pregnancy or birth hard on her or the baby.   I just answered this Featured Question, you can answe...

hahahahahaha,,,,, there you go tia,,,,, hahaahaha

  • I completely approve of adoption, John.

  • um, that's a weird question.  Being a mother I can't imagine how hard it would be to relinquish a child for adoption, but having counseled women at a crisis pregnancy center I can also say that sometimes it is the very best decision a young mother can make - for herself and her child.  And adoption is different than it used to be - a person can choose to have an open or semi-open adoption if they like - it's not like the secret sealed records of years ago.

Anyway - there you have it .

  • um...well...i think lemonlimegurl needs to learn how to slow down and read what she is answering...she is against abortion, not adoption..hahahaha...aaah, youth

  • Since Tialoca more or less took my response, I'll give the answer that the professor at Darwin University that Groucho Marx played in "Horse Feathers".... "Whatever it is ...... I'M AGAINST IT!!"

  • Hello John. I read your comment and the answer is: 1. It's a magazine (what is iVillage?) 2. It was featured on the Xanga frontpage (how did you get so many comments?)

  • Nice Answer... Why the people of xanga are choosing the worst of the stupiest questions?

  • I liked your original answer.  When I read the question, I thought, "Um.  What is the question exactly?"

  • I plan to adopt a few. I love adoption and I feel I have too much love to give to any child I adopt.

  • Hehe - I will say it.

    I am against adoption.

Why you ask? I understand that there are people out there with maternal instincts that want to reproduce but they can't so they adopt. And why should anyone be against giving an otherwise homeless child a home?

Simple. You don't know what you are in for. That nature versus nuture question. Throw in a dash of selfishness, and I say adoption is a bad idea because you may not know what genetic predispositions your adopted child would have and if they will take up too much of your precious time!

I am sure any serious know conditions medically are made aware of to the adoptive parents, but what about the ones that creep up later?

What if the child was given up for adoption by the mother because she was raped? Would the father's DNA make enough impact on the child's personality that they are destined to turn to *evil* despite your attempts to nuture the child to *good* ?

Ultimately, I admire people who do adopt, because they must take all that into consideration and still decide to do it. But for me - there is no way I ever would. I am not necessarily saying it is just flat out wrong. It's just not for everybody.

  • Davy Crockett had a beautiful mind, indeed.

  • Damn, they're getting really moronic over at FQ...kind of like the sound of that...eff cue...reminds me of another phrase

  • ryc - thanks -  I haven't read that book but it sounds like one that I would like...I'll add it to my growing list

  • I'm all for adoption. Beats the heck out of throwing a baby in the garbage or downing children. Being able to reproduce doesn't necessarily mean you should. Some people just shouldn't be parents. Being adopted myself, I can tell you that it beats the heck out of foster homes!

RYC: Dear What Truth... Heck, you never know what you're in for when you give birth either. It's all a crap game!
