  • Retrospective

I wish I had something else as interesting to say as that post on Hillary apparently was.  I thoroughly enjoyed all the comments, and I made a few fascinating new friends.  And that to me is what Xanga is ultimately all about.  For me we are a genuine community of ordinary human beings - and some rather extraordinary ones masquerading as ordinary - who share our observations and opinions, and ultimately our joys and sorrows.

Maybe I'll think of something else to ruminate about one of these days.    Meanwhile, please take as much of my love with you as you can comfortably carry, as you go on with your life's journey the next few days.

EDIT:  Actually, there IS one thing.  If you're free to listen to the radio tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon between 2 and 4 PM Central Standard Time, would you mind listening to my world music radio show on your computer via  webcast?  Go to http://weft.org and click the green box in the upper right corner that says "Listen Online".  I'd like to get 25 online listeners.  Just 25.  It would give me "street cred" and help me win a sort of contest which I helped to initiate.  You, in turn, would get to hear my voice and some pretty interesting music.  You might just get addicted.    I'd love to have you there!

  • i never have anything interesting to post anymore. just the prosey stuff i write to get myself through the day.

  • Taking a hunk of love, and running with it:::::::!!

  • Anyone who has Sean Connery as their avatar is awwwwwwwwwwwl-right with me!

Only 25 people? Will we crash the server? LOL I'll be there.

  • I'll be there if you'll remind me.  I'll totally forget before I even navigate away from this page if you don't.  My brain is fried.

  • Too bad I missed... I don't check up constantly but I hope you'll win!

  • i love to listen to "world music"....so many interesting artists!!  If i didn't work at night and sleep every day, i'd listen to you...  :(

  • Your ruminations are the best part of my Xanga day.

  • Well...just got finished listening to Lady Black Mambazo...which was very interesting...and somewhat spiritual. So yeah...I will do my best to tune in, especially considering that my pickup schedule for the kids is altered today by early release for my son, and the mom of our carpooler said she'd pick her up at the reg. time. So I may be free and in the vicinity of a computer in that timeframe. I will make my best effort to be there. Until then...Peace and blessings.

  • I can't post all my plans to secretly poison the water supply in Scottsdale...oh wait, they beat me to it on Tuesday.

    How's it going, Mr. Connery?

    -The Former B.C.

  • hope you had posted the radio thing a day earlier... i would have listened. too late.

  • Great show, John! There was a lot of variety to be heard... I really liked the Zydeco.

  • rats...i came here too late and missed it...you know, you would be forgiven for mass messages on this one to remind everyone...is it going to be on next thursday?

  • i was across the river so i missed it too.  sorry. one of these days ill catch it,,, i agree with tia,, you should send out messages.

did i mention,,, yea,, on a post,,, fm91 wants to do a program centered around me. hahahahahaha,,, they dont have much to do ,,, do they.  it will be on regular radio here in nuevo laredo tho,,, doubt anybody will be able to pick it up.  i dont have the date yet.  i hope it wont  be live,,, probably will,, hahahahahaha.

    ryc:

" I love the glow-in-the-dark gloves."    i havent noticed them glowing in the dark,, i think maybe it was just the lighting.  they were $40.oo and that aint  pesos.

" May I ask how tall you are?"    about 5'5"

" And what it is you have that Silly Lauta likes?"    hahahahaha,,, my scooter,, and my ability to buy $40 gloves.

ps.  i would like your input on this one,,, altho i found it on another post. http://www.xanga.com/routersnews  i happen to know that last part is a fact,, and i am surprisingly wondering the same thing routersnews is wondering.  your thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated,,, you can comment on it there if you wish,, i occasionally read their posts and i would see it there.

  • ryc: I guess I should have said sadness and loneliness can't kill you unless you let them...aaah, but that is another post entirely.  I did not have any other children.  The man I married was a carrier for cystic fibrosis (his son was born with it)...in those days, they knew both parents had to be a carrier to pass it on, but did not have the knowledge or tests to determine whether you were a carrier.  He did not want any more children and I obeyed.  I have noted the url and will look in next thursday...but you still need to message your contacts...really.

  • RYC about my scientific study:  Those are just the way the numbers worked out those days.  Next week I'll probably run into 57 rude Asians and a couple dozen Eskimos.  And it's true, after the way some races have been treated by other races since time began, they should be wary.  Or maybe realize that the people they deal with TODAY are not those their ancestors dealt with.  This goes for those of all races, religions or national origins.

  •  I don't normaly concern myself with sources, I know my sources are legitimate.  I had a feeling i should have saved this one, however the same information wasnt hard to find.  The format is a little different (not just a list)  Altho Canadian residents will be presumably asked for proof of citizenship (Canada) Canadians are obviously afforded the same rights of travel in the US as US citizens.

I repeat my question.  How many borders do you see?  I still see two.

I'll have to apologize for neglecting to note the url to the list of requirements, but, i probably will in the future as well.

  • ryc:  scrabble is my game.  sometimes i have been known to score a perfect 60 -so i'm just warning you.

my parents ARE paying for my education but that was not my point.  i am talking about the fact that i did start my teritary life late - hell, i'm a late bloomer regarding everything - and so i think the fact that i AM doing it now and i am trying to improve my life (at any pace) should be treated as an accomplishment and not an Freudian excuse to compare me, apple, with an orange and also stop putting my circular self into a tight little square box.  i am nothing like my family who are business orientated - i am artsy fartsy and love the humanties.  i just wish my dad could accept me unconditionally like my mommy does.

  • "mexican illegals have impacted us more than muslim illegals"  Just a statement to rebut this comment by Tialoca.  not really news, just an example for her.

The map, an imaginary map. I know you are aware of the general appearance of the US on a map or globe and surrounding areas.

  • Thank you so much for your sincere comment on my xanga. I agree with you on this post: xanga is about making connections with people, but you say it so much more eloquently. Most of all, thank you for your support. It means a great deal to me when members of my own family refuse to show their own support for me.

    Best regards,
    M.

  • thanks for the mini and ummm...for the inspirational words about life after thirty

  • I logged onto this site and started to listen, but then the kids woke up from their naps/rests and I had to go.

  • Music do indeed hath charms.

  • Sorry I missed it, but hopefully you still had more than your 25!

  • My little two cents probably don't mean a damn...but it's the best damn internet radio show out there

Fortunately, i got things squared away with Dell to hear it  Gonna be doing some getting up & fighting over the next few weeks though

  • DID the formatting thing, but it didn't work

Didn't know you could count your internet listeners, but that's ALL you got  i ain't getting no kickbacks from you or Leadwood Folk, but your show is THE BEST music show on the internet just as they are one of the more interesting and fun new bands on the scene

  • thanks for coming by and commenting,, im missing you posting here,,,  guess your busy,, or maybe just lazy, like i get sometimes.

did you see routersnews post about the elections?  i think it was yesterdays post,,,  i didnt know the campaign was that much fun.

hahahahaha,,, it was so bad last nite, the beer drinking party in the parking lot of la fajita drew a blank.  i went, in my car, nobody else showed. hahahahahahaha,,, by sunday its supposed to be in the 70s again. and around the 80s by monday.  winter is bad,,, but there are days sprinkled in.

thanks to owls global warming we havent had a freeze this year yet,,, (it came close once) (hahahahahaha,, the morning of the hidalgo run) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27eNfNBLAzI if you havent seen it.

ive heard a good freeze helps to eliminate bugs,, but,, when its hot here its too hot for bugs as well. flies only come out on temporate days,  i can count the days on my fingers that i see flies out and about here,, hahahahahahaha

  • RYC: Yes, it's too early IF I'm growing tomato plants conventionally. However, I'm trying my hand at growing them early. I'm sure the shop lights would be a good idea, but that's probably more of an investment than we'll have time to make. It's experimental, so we will see how it goes. If it all fails, I can buy tomatoes at the farmer's market (although, I will point out, I am aware _that_ is not the logic of a peasant).

As for my peasant-ness, my agrarian roots are firmly entrenched by hundreds of years of predecessors' practice. Not only am I a first-generation college student AND first-generation high school student, but I have also spent far more quality time with farm animals and vegetable gardens than I preferred. As flattering as it might be to think myself an intellectual, a little wAndering around this campus (or a little blogging) cures me of any delusions of grandeur. :) Oh, and (unfortunately?) no amount of education has separated me from those generations of peasant genes.

  • Well, if you're anything like me, you get asked to have group sex all the time. But I am a married man and can't indulge people just for the sake of sparing their feelings. So before I have to explain to some poor girl and all her friends that I am off the market, thereby probably driving them mad with sorrow and increasing the likelihood that they will procure services instead from a less than reputable and talented purveyor, I like to let them down easy with the shirt. That way there is no build up. They see me, they see the shirt and they know the score from the start: no group sex with that dude. It just works better. Since I have been wearing it, there are fewer instances of teen-girl suicide in my city.

PS. I just thought it would be funny. I do get some funny reactions from it.

  • ryc:  if ANY man came as close to as smart as hillary, i'd check him out.  her being female is a plus.

the truth on the personal stuff is not as you present it.  maybe the question is, why do YOU hate hillary so much?  and with kucinich out, who will you vote for?  (i liked him, but he never had a chance)
