  • I heard that he is the only pacifist ever elected in a time of war and the only idealist ever elected.  I wonder what he will do about this war now that it has begun.  An idealist is going to tread very carefully here.

  • @Isismoon - Unfortunately, he isn't a pacifist. I think in practical terms he'll end up more or less like Clinton-- less militaristic than Bush but still perfectly willing to send American troops overseas a lot.

  • @upsidedownkingdom - I agree there.  I think what the article meant was that he spoke out against a war.

  • Sigh.  He'll do the exact thing we're doing right now, at least for the time being. And yes, he'll be far more like Clinton, but more importantly, he'll be Jimmy Carter.

  • All wars right or wrong, cost money.  That is no reason to stop. The question should be is the war a just war, not what does it cost.

  • Sometimes I wonder what difference it would make if all the millions spent on a campaign were put to a different use.  At least I'm glad the results are what they are.  Now I'll wait and see if I hooked my wagon to the right star.

  • That is a costly war.

  • Remember folks, this is just for Iraq. Let's not forget about Afghanistan or the many other skirmishes that we police around the world.
