  • Why is it....

....that I get more comments when I'm GONE than when I'm here?

I'm wanting to tell you a little bit about my Thanksgiving holidays - placing events in a political context of course   - but so far I haven't had the energy to actually type it all out.  And tomorrow I have my world music radio show to do.  Please bear with me.

I love you guys.  I really do.  Most of you know that.

  • Because it gives people more time to come and visit and leave a comment?

Really looking forward to hearing about your Thanksgiving. Hope you find the time and energy soon!

  • Because we miss you.  I <3 you too.

I had to use L337 speech cuz I feel too weird saying it in normal way.  ha ha ha.

  • That happens to me too.

    RYC:  I added you.

  • kinda the same thing used to happen when I would go limb line fishing....

  • Because people missed you?

RYC: Thanks for your comment (again). I appreciate you taking the time. I truly don't know about the legal definitions, but I do not that in many places in NZ, sexual harrassment is loosely defined as an advance that could be construed as sexual that makes you uncomfortable. In the scenario I gave, you might not be able to sue for SH, but you could certainly warrant your co-worker being hauled up to the boss for a warning. I worked with a girl who had a guy in the hot seat just for telling her that he thought her hair smelled nice. She took it totally the wrong way. *Shakes head*

I have never personally made complaint against anyone, but I have certainly had occassion to. I guess if we are to go by the legal definition? Maybe not? I don't know. This one guy I worked with try to plant a kiss on me right where we were working - even as I tried to step back from him he still moved forward until he was able to plant one on my cheek. I really didn't see the point of making any kind of a big deal out of it, but I knew I could. I told him that I was not interested, asked him how his wife was, and he layed off.

  • intersting article down below. gl on your show

  • I'm missing your writings eccentrique! You will have to indulge us soon! And world music radio show? How awesome!

  • What kind of world music show? You host, play?

Sorry for the questions, that just sounds really cool. Good luck. Oh, and I have seen your posts on Becca's and Sorina's blogs, and really enjoy reading what you have to say.

  • You were gone!? I thought you were just ignoring me .

I am glad you are back. I'm going to look into some of your "Currently Listening". I've a started a list. Some of the ones from way back looked very intriguing.

You know, I figure there are 6 people who saw my faux pas. And I'm glad you were one of them. I just read a text about dealing with difficult kids and one section consisted of a bulleted list of  things typical people do when then are confronted with problems. The first thing is that they lean away, then move away physically and by extension, emotionally. You're not typical people, thank god.

  • To answer a few questions/comments, I DJ a world music show every Thursday afternoon on a local community radio station.  I'm also the "genre director" for world music there - which means, among other things, that I get to preview all the new music that comes in in that genre.  I feel a little bit like a kid in a candy store, though after a while the CDs proliferate to where they feel like cockroaches.  But yeah...most of my "Currently Listening" CDs here are music I'm previewing for the world music show.

I love jazz, too, and did a jazz show at the radio station for a while, so some of what you "see" me listening to is jazz.  I guess I'd have to say that "world jazz" is the most intriguing music for me.  The one today by Nicola Conte is an example.  An Italian doing Latin jazz with French song titles.  Or something like that.

And yes, Rabookie...I am most emphatically not "typical people".

  • One advantage of being involved with a community radio station is that I can bring CDs home and burn copies.  I have literally thousands of CDs in many styles, though mainly jazz and "world beat".  I ran out of storage for 'em a long time ago, and they sit in piles on every available horizontal surface in my humble basement apartment.  I need a "music room" and LOTS of shelves.  And unfortunately I have no one to share the music with except when I do the world music show.  Music, like many things, is more enjoyable when shared.

  • Here's a comment simply to help prove your opening statement correct. ^_^

    Good luck with the show.

  • ^^ Likewise.

    hahaha

  • Very very unfortunate that You have no one to
    share your music with

  • Wait, I thought you hated me.

  • RYC: How long were you in France for? You get a cookie by the way I was curious to know if Asterix even aired in the States because my husband did not recognise it. From what I can gather, it may have aired here later if at all?

  • What are a couple of your favorites (like asking a kid which piece of candy they want, I'm sure)? I'm always looking to add something "new" to my musical heritage.

  • I looked at "One Mirror's Reflection" (in your June 11, 2005 post) again and left commentary. I will have others but I want to be complete so it will take a little time. And now I sleep good sir. Good evening.

Oh yeah, if it's too much let me know and I will try to be more concise.

  • World Music is the best....I always listen to World Cafe on NPR at night..I get introduced to so many artists that I would have no clue of how to get introduced to their music...And it is always such an exotic infusion of genres and cultures coming together..Unfortunately many times the best artists are on when I am driving and have no pen and paper available (or something like that)and I am very distressed that I will never find the music again...Then it happens again..and again..all the music is excellent, and the interviews,to learn what was going on in the mind or life of the singer/songwriters/artists!!! Oh I remember one from Mexico recently La Tigres of Norte...There interview was very interesting, how 4 illegal immigrants, who were onion pickers and field workers....Rose to such fame!!!Awesome.

  • Haha, yes, I be the cartoonist.  And w00t for smutty, nekkid profile pictures.

  • Of course I liked it! I have notes that I will transcribe under others later. I'm glad you didn't find it annoying!

  • If you're doing 'international music', it doesn't get any better than Sam Hui of Hong Kong. Though he's retired, he has a giant body of music from the 1970s onwards of somewhat soft, somewhat bouncy rock songs that are real melodic and pleasant. Of course it adds if you know the Cantonese, but even without the meaning it's got all the ability of music to soothe, energize, etc.

  • RYC: That watch face reads TOOL, which is Maynard's band. You know...my Maynard. My inspiration.

  • Community radio?  It's the best!  I didn't know what that was until we moved to this state.  RYC: Thanks for your encouragement!  So, do are you an LSAT survivor yourself?  Law school too?
