"You're very thoughtful, Meemee."
aw, thank you! btw, what was this comment in regards to? i've made so many comments on so many xangas lately, i'm not sure which one you're referring to.
and are we supposed to comment on the picture? neat, kinda like a rorschach inkblot test or something. i agree with joy up there, he looks hopeless. actually, the word that came to mind was "anguish". horrible, huh?
Interesting print!! I also like the format of your previous post, I read it all and the comments. Time balance is an interesting thing!
Refreshing question, more substance for sure than some of those other brands!!! You should do this format often, I will keep a watch.

That is me watching Democracy Now on Directv channel 375 at 6pm(sorry for the shameful plug)!! I think I'm sputtering something about that Fush Buck!
Fush Buck! ryc: thank you as always. You are right on. When I watch comedians it becomes clear that when it comes to switching between liguistical sounds and styles those who've had a history of doing it for living purposes are funnier and just way better at it. The entitled white classes end up sounding very off when they try immitate but the less traditionally entitled folks seem to have a better handle on the the way words distinguish people. I'm thinking of vintage Eddie Murphy here, and though he may not have been a denizen of the ghetto, he certainly grew up with a somewhat different dialect. And when he imitated white guys I would nearly pee laughing, he was so perfect. The kids are cool in that they can distinguish styles that I can't. They will have a fun time being the two A.M. ghetto crowd because it's not who they are (they just know some of those people well), I just hope they have as much fun being bubba on the farm for a day! I can't wait until we have tea with the queen!
ryc: That would be great story. I wonder why she lied to you? Maybe she was like so many mothers who love their sons so much that no girls are good enough and she just didn't want you to be seduced! My father's mother was like that. My mother was apparently not good enough for him all the up until she produced a grandchild. Then her (grandmother's) attitude softened. Both of my sisters have boys and I wonder if they will be protective like that. Wait, who am I talking about here, of course they will. My mother was never that way with us, but Dad was. He could just appear and make a boy flee! It didn't hurt that he looked a bit like a grizzley bear.
"You discuss/debate very thorny issues with intelligence, restraint, and grace. "
Wow, I’m totally flattered. I never get those compliments in real life (you know what I mean. )
"It's a rare quality."
Just trying to model more of what I wish I could see more of in the world.
"And as for your comment re the drawing on my own blog, you're precisely correct on two counts…"
Woah, that’s trippy! Well, I’m a psychology grad student, so that should explain a lot! Haha!
ps. it's also easier to be graceful when you're not debating one another face to face.
i can't believe i just spent my inheritance smoking crack---caption for the drawing
LOLatNYCJOYCE!!!
can only see one thing out of two....damn
I deleted something old protected posts. But that's it. Or were you just making joke? I am so wound right now I can't tell my ear from my elbow.
"Are you speaking of the African-American culture? Or an African culture, perhaps?"
haha! no, i'm filipina. don't wanna speak for other filipinos, but this has been my experience (matriarchal families). hmmm, i don't like the term matriarchal, although, that's the term i've heard most to describe it. i'd rather say "women-centered." ah, you get the idea. supposedly, we have strong connections to african roots. we're actually a mix of many, many cultures. i enjoy learning about my culture.
cheers!
RYC: Thank you for your comment. Most people like to make fun of us "folks" from Arkansas. I was born there and lived there until I was 23 or 24. Arkansas is truly a beautiful state.
meemee925,
As a Mexican, I've referred to my home structure as a "matrifocal" extended cluster family.
It turns out many folks of Indigenous, African, Latin American, and U.S. "Latino" backgrounds might recognize matrifocal roots.. interesting.
hahahaha! sometimes people can't "guess" what ethnicity i am. i've heard so many different things: filipina, japanese, hawaiian (cuz of my long hair), chinese (when i was a little girl), latino, half-samoan, and half-black. it's quite interesting. on a different tangent, i'm sorry that your marriage didn't last! can i ask why? was it because she was from a women-centered culture? i'm just going on what information you've given me. forgive me for being nosy, but i just like asking questions and getting to know people better.
cheers!
oooh, i wasn't even around in the 60's, so i have no recollection of the "age of aquarius." i watched forrest gump, tho. but, in my lifetime, i too, haven't heard/read/seen anything coming close to utopia. that would be heaven on earth, right? and if there's heaven on earth...who needs heaven? there's gotta be some incentive for us to do good here on earth. i just love it when people have thoughts different from the masses. it excites me precisely because it's different; it's refreshing.
hmmm, my experience with the institutional church...honestly, nothing dramatic OR traumatic to me personally. i just have a lot of strong disagreements with their practices such as groups that are anti-gay marriage or anti-abortion. my family is catholic, but they never encouraged going to sunday mass or going to bible study or any of that stuff, so it's just not something that's ingrained in me. i guess since i grew up with no really strong religious roots, i'm still exploring my spirituality. i'm not sure if that answers your question...
ps. sorry, i'm commenting like a mad woman, but i just wanted to clarify that the profile pic isn't me...
hmmmm. is this you, john?
I look forward to your ideas too,Ecc.Thanks for stopping by and leaving a nice comment.I'll ttyl, back to work.TGIF..OH YEAH! Peace Scott
ok, i confess! i'm a fashionable tabloid-loving whore!! *swoon*
i have no idea where angelina gets her good looks. it don't matter. she can't be recreated!!
ryc: i appreciate your insight into this subject... i'm not tired of it. it makes me angry for you, though.
Thanks for your comment on my site....stop in anytime....it's not always so depressing!
it is you!
did you delete me?
UPDATE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yeah, civil disobedience.
how come you delete all my comments? i've forgiven you, can't you reciprocate? or was it just the personal nature of this one?
RYC;Appreciate what you were saying re everyone not into flashy sites, for various reasons. It's why I've offered the "get-it-up-and -running and..happy" guarantee for some of those reasons. I would be more than happy to look at something else, but everything I looked at had problems attached for at least some of the time. The ease you can give this to someone, anonymously if you wish, was a major attraction for me,although in this case...I appreciate the input.I'm going to go around and get a list of who already has it. Peace Scott
